Antoine, JD Assistant Vice President email: Kevin Antoine leads the effort to support Downstate Medical Center's commitment to diversity and inclusion by working collaboratively with offices across campus. These offices include but are not limited to, academic affairs, human resources, enrollment management, and admissions-to elevate inclusiveness and implement best practices related to diversity, equity and inclusion in such areas as the recruitment and retention of students and senior administrators, faculty and staff hires, and faculty tenure and promotions. He also serves as a clinical associate professor of health law and policy in Downstate Medical Center's College of Nursing. As the Chief Diversity Officer, he has oversight of the campus affirmative action programs and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws related to equal employment opportunity as well as developing and implementing initiatives related to campus climate and inclusion. Kevin oversees the administrative process for investigating complaints of harassment, discrimination and retaliation.

Before joining Downstate Medical Center Kevin held positions in federal and state government, higher education, and the U.S. He has served as a legal analyst for the Federal Judiciary, chief diversity officer and lobbyist for the City University of New York College of Staten Island, and a Harvard University Administrative Fellow. Kevin was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force at the rank of Captain. Kevin is a frequent speaker on civil and human rights, education and healthcare policy. Notably he has been a featured speaker at the Center for Disease Control, the American Society for Law Medicine and Ethics, and the Harvard School of Public Health. His publications include contributing book chapter exhibits on the application of international law to American health law.

He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Association for Access Equity and Diversity and serves as Chairman of its Legislative Committee. Kevin is a Fulbright Scholar and a graduate of Harvard University's Administrative Fellowship Program.

He earned a law degree from the College of William and Mary School of Law, an executive certificate in Change Leader and Organization Change from Cornell University, and an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also a graduate of the State University of New York's Executive Leadership Academy. He has been a candidate for the United States Congress and the New Jersey State Senate. Goldsmith is also responsible for administration of Downstate's Title IX compliance program including the development and management of programs on gender discrimination prevention policies, reporting and resources. This charge includes oversight of all gender discrimination prevention activities at Downstate as they relate to faculty, trainees, students, and staff. Goldsmith also serves on a variety of center wide committees including the Cultural Competency Committee, Faculty Development Committee, Women's History Month Committee and the Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Award Committee.

Prior to coming to Downstate, Ms. Goldsmith practiced law in the litigation department of several New York law firms including Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP where she worked on government investigations and complex litigation including securities and bankruptcy filings. Goldsmith was a member of the team representing corporate clients such as Enron and Citigroup in litigation and administrative hearings. Goldsmith received her bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and received her law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law, and an EEO Professionals certificate from Cornell University. She is a member in good standing of the New York State Bar.
