For some background, I'm in a band that plays medium-sized venues and wanted something strong to use on stage without miking it. On the power side, this thing takes the cake. It blows away any Marshall 100W stack, and pretty much most other stacks I found in this power range. Pretty nice for a 2-12' setup. The effects are, well, a fun novelty, at best. They're pretty quality effects, but you simply aren't given enough control for them to be useful. When I'm playing alone, I love to mess around with them and get weird sounds, but frankly, I could never see using any of them on stage.
If you're buying this for effects, you're buying it for the wrong reason. The distortion is also questionable. The gain channel is simply too bassy and muddy for me; if you like crunch, it's good, I suppose. The solo channel is decent, and blows the water out of the cheaper marshall distortions, but still lacks the bite I enjoy.
The clean channel is clear, powerful, and has great EQ control. My recommended setup: distortion pedal into the clean channel, along with whatever effects pedals you want, and then an external 4x12 cab to get that sucker really roaring. It's just Well, I have owned this amp for quite some time. Free Download Program Understanding Japanese Society Pdf Creator. When I first got it I thought it was the greatest thing! When I first got it I thought it was the greatest thing! Now it just kind of pisses me off. This is the second Crate amp I've owned and I don't think I would buy another.
I had a small practice amp that lost its distortion effect shortly after I started using it. I decided to get this and the digital effects also change on me when switching between distortion channels and clean. You have to reach down turn the knob to another effect then back to where you had it.
That is just NOT acceptable. There's no way this could ever be used on a gig, just for that reason alone. This amp has pretty decent distortion and volume. With a little tweaking you can get a good range of sounds between the Rythym and Lead channels. Clean is nice too. Very loud like I said.

My other guitarist got a 1/2 stack 120 watt tube setup and this little crate can go as loud as his 1/2 stack. Its not starved for volume.
But if you plan to use any effects you cannot switch channels! A word on the effects themselves is they are almost useless.
I only use 2 of the 16, there is a severe lack of adjustablility with the preset effects which make most of them useless. The last couple of months now I have also encountered a power supply problem which sounds like a short in wiring that comes and goes. Very Very frustrating. I would sway anyone away from this amp. Its very unfortunate.
